Day 1: Tbilisi
ArrivingArrive in Tbilisi, meet at the airport and transfer to a hotel.
Day 2: Tbilisi
City TourTbilisi sightseeing tour after late breakfast. During the trip, we take you to the place that will show you the old town. Learn about the early history of the city by walking through the narrow streets of the town and exploring religious and secular buildings. Here you will find different religious buildings: churches, synagogues, mosques and famous 19th-century houses with multi-colored wooden balconies. Afterward, we drive to enjoy panoramic views of the whole city and walk to the fortress of Narikala (4th century). You will visit the area of the sulfur bath. Then you will discover the great treasure of the Georgian History Museum and then stroll along the main street of Tbilisi - Rustavili Avenue. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 3: Tbilisi, Kvareli, Tsinandali
TbilisiIn the morning we start exploring the Kakheti region well known for its wine producing. We enjoy superb views of the Great Caucasus Mountains and valleys of Kakheti, acknowledge the traditions and culture of the country and region, taste wines and delicious food. First, we drive to visit a farmer’s house to see a unique 300-year-old wine cellar. You get acquainted with the Georgian way of wine-making, quite different from the European one and drink typical Georgian wines. Here we’ll have lunch as well with delicious homemade food — one more wine tasting in a wine-factory in Kvareli. Then drive to visit a local Duke Alexander Chavchavadze`s estate in Tsinandali with its beautiful garden. The park and the house used to be the gathering place of all poets and artists of the 19th century. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 4: Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gori
GudauriToday we visit the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia – Mtskheta and see its historical places: Jvari Monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) where the Robe of Christ is buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Drive along the Great Silk Road to the town of Gori. Near Gori visit Uplistsikhe Cave Town (1st millennium BC) – one of the main points on the great east-west trade route. Once a flourishing city now offers a walk among the ancient streets, rock-carved theatre, royal halls, and pharmacy, while the remains of granaries and large clay wine vessels give us some clue as to the daily life of the inhabitants. Then we drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway, en route visiting the Ananuri complex (17th century). The drive is very scenic as it heads up into the Great Caucasus Mountains. Overnight in Gudauri Ski Resort (2200m).
Day 5: Gudauri, Stepantsminda
TbilisiA stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Stepantsminda – the main town in the region. From there we walk up for 2 hrs through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2175 m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt. Kazbegi (5047 m). In the late afternoon drive to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
