Itineraries

Day 1: Tbilisi

Arriving

Arrive in Tbilisi, meet at the airport and transfer to a hotel.

Day 2: Tbilisi

City Tour

Tbilisi sightseeing tour after late breakfast. During the trip, we take you to the place that will show you the old town. Learn about the early history of the city by walking through the narrow streets of the town and exploring religious and secular buildings. Here you will find different religious buildings: churches, synagogues, mosques and famous 19th-century houses with multi-colored wooden balconies. Afterward, we drive to enjoy panoramic views of the whole city and walk to the fortress of Narikala (4th century). You will visit the area of the sulfur bath. Then you will discover the great treasure of the Georgian History Museum and then stroll along the main street of Tbilisi - Rustavili Avenue. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3: Tbilisi, Sighnaghi, Gremi

Kvareli

In the morning, we begin exploring the Kakheti region, known for its wine production. We enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains of the Greater Caucasus and the Kakheti Valley, recognizing national and regional traditions and cultures, tasting wines and delicious food. First, we drive to visit the fortified town of Signagi (18th century). The city retains its original image and now offers visitors a magnificent view of the surrounding Caucasus Mountains. Then drive to visit a farmer's house and see a unique 300-year-old winery. You are familiar with the making of Georgian wines, utterly different from European brewing, and drinking typical Georgian wines. Here we will have lunch as well as delicious homemade food. After that, we visited the defensive castle of Gremi (16th century). Then we drive to a local winery and taste the most famous Georgian wines. 2 * star Hotels in Kwarelli

Day 4: Kvareli, Alaverdi, Tsinandali

Tbilisi

In the morning we will visit the farmers market in Telavi, then the Alaverdi Cathedral (11th century), the tallest church in the Caucasus for many centuries. Then drive to visit the estate of the local duke Alexander Chavadze`s and its beautiful gardens. The park and the house used to be a meeting place for all poets and artists of the 19th century. Drive to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 5: Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gori

Akhaltsikhe

In the morning we drive to visit the ancient capital of Georgia and the religious center - Mtzchetta and its historic monastery of Jvari (6th century) and the Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli (11th century) - both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Then we approached Gori and visited the cave of Upper Prishsik (1 thousand BC). Uplistsikhe is the place of the Great Silk Road past. It is an ancient and impressive complex with residential areas, cellars, bakeries, a church of three temples with rock immersion and even an impressive theater. In Gori, at Stalin's birthplace, we will have a photo stop at his house and museum. Continue to the administrative center of the Jawahti region. Stay in Akhaltsikhe for two nights.

Day 6: Akhaltsikhe, Vardzia

In the morning we traveled to Vardia. Stop on the way to the fortress of Hertvici (10th century). The great cave town, Vardzia (12th century), is one of the highlights of this trip. It extends more than half a kilometer along the Mtekwari River, with 19 floors. There used to be about 3,000 caves. It has a Shawn rock church with amazing 12th-century frescoes. The complex also includes residential areas, small cathedrals, dining rooms, wine cellar, pharmacy, etc. We returned to Akhaltsikhe and visited the multicultural complex of Rabat. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Akhaltsikhe.

Day 7: Akhaltsikhe

Kutaisi

In the morning we head to Imereti (West Georgia), which is very different from Catley (East Georgia), with its fresh springs, green fields, and beautiful gardens. Visit the beautiful Kutaisi, the second largest in the country (over 3000 years) and its historical monuments: the Gallati Cathedral (12th century), declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, one of the first universities in Europe, as well as the splendid Bagrati Cathedral (11th century). Accommodation in Kutaisi 2 nights.

Day 8: Kutaisi

Batumi, Kutaisi

Batumi - Georgia`s summer holiday capital. The city has sprouted new hotels and attractions like mushrooms in recent years, but it still has much of its charm. Strolling along Batum Boulevard, originally laid out in 1884 and now stretching 6km along the coast. With its trees, paths, fountains, cafes, beach bars and some quirky attractions, this is the life and soul of Batumi. During the city tour, we`ll visit Batumi cathedral - built in Neo-Gothic style, Europe square with Astronomical clock and Medea statue - from the Greek Mythology. Medea was a daughter of Estes, the king of a legendary kingdom of Colchis (present-day western Georgia). Visit Piazza Square, one of the most beautiful squares in whole Georgia, distinguished by its painting, as well as by its exquisite mosaics and stained glass windows. Piazza Square has already become the venue of numerous entertaining and cultural events. Visiting Botanical Garden of Batumi will be another experience of the trip. Found in 1912, this garden contains more than 5000 kinds of plants from all over the world. Drive back to Kutaisi.

Day 9: Kutaisi

Stepantsminda

In the morning we drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway (leading to the Georgian-Russian border). On the way visit the Ananuri architectural complex (17th century), the two churches and the fortress overlook the Zhinvali water reservoir. The carvings on the churches are one of the best samples of Georgian art. The drive is very scenic through the high Caucasus Mountains. Overnight in Stepantsminda for two nights.

Day 10: Stepantsminda

Stepantsminda

We will walk up (2 hours) through beautiful valleys and woodland to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2175m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). Upon arrival back in the town of Stepantsminda drive along the beautiful Darjali gorge (leading to the Russian border). We’ll continue walking to visit Gveleti waterfalls. Then we get back to Stepantsminda.

Day 11: Stepantsminda

Tbilisi

In the morning drive to Tbilisi. Free time. Overnight in Tbilisi.
